Fundación Chile Earns ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Certification from ABS QE with Zero Non-Conformities
As part of its commitment to operational excellence and sustainability, Fundación Chile (FCh) has received ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certificates from ABS Quality Evaluations, following a recertification audit conducted in December 2024. This audit concluded with no non-conformities recorded, marking a new milestone in the maturity of the organization’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
The official certificate award ceremony, led by Ms. Rossina Moreno, Deputy Manager of Customer Service, took place on June 2, 2025, and consolidated Fundación Chile as a benchmark in best practices, occupational safety, environmental care and continuous process improvement, being the only foundation in Chile certified under two standards.
A Track Record of Commitment and Continuous Improvement
Since 2014, Fundación Chile has followed a solid path in the implementation and consolidation of its IMS in the areas of Safety, Occupational Health and Environment (SSO-MA). The process began with the implementation of the system in 2014, followed by certification under OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards in 2015. Since then, the institution has maintained annual surveillance audits and periodic recertification processes, achieving adoption of the new ISO 45001 standard in 2019.
Over the past two years, all external audits have concluded with no non-conformities recorded, reflecting the consolidation of an organizational culture focused on continuous improvement and strict compliance with current regulations. In fact, according to IMS records, non-conformities detected by external audits have progressively decreased since 2015, going from six that year to zero in both 2023 and 2024.
For Hernán Araneda, CEO of Fundación Chile, this milestone proves the institution’s commitment to the Integrated Management System.
“This recertification is a testament to Fundación Chile’s strong commitment to its management system and to building trust in its work. It is the result of systematic work and several years of continuous updates to meet the highest standards. Achieving this recertification highlights the efforts of our internal staff, reflecting our dedication to the people and the environment in which we operate.”
Meanwhile, Rossina Moreno, a member of ABS Quality Evaluations who presented the certificates, explained the merit achieved by the organization, especially due to the absence of non-conformities. “It is a very important milestone. It is a tremendous achievement to record no non-conformities in recent years of audits. It is not common and speaks highly of the commitment of the work team,” she said.
Indicators Demonstrating IMS Progress
The progress of SSO-MA management at Fundación Chile has been reflected not only in certifications but also in concrete performance indicators. In recent years, the organization has accumulated more than 3,300 man-hours in training, executed four sustainable projects (equivalent to 66 million pesos) and made infrastructure improvements (exceeding 200 million pesos). Additionally, a total of 28 audits (internal and external) have been conducted, and a 96% compliance rate has been achieved in SSO-MA legal matters.
Furthermore, the institution has achieved five years without occupational accidents and three years without environmental incidents. In addition, 37% of the total workforce actively participate in various Safety and Environment committees, and 90 incidents have been investigated with a preventive approach.
Andrés Pérez, Head of HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment and Community) at Fundación Chile and leader of the Integrated Management System, stated that compliance with SSO-MA standards within the institution is fundamental to the organization’s work. “This collective success is a testament to joint effort and the conviction that safety, health and the environment are fundamental and non-negotiable values at Fundación Chile,” he said. These results position Fundación Chile not only as a technical benchmark in innovation and sustainable development but also as an organization that leads by example in risk management, regulatory compliance and a preventive culture.
