Quality Certification

AS9003

Production organizations with relatively simple processes or products may be encouraged by their aerospace industry OEMs to pursue certification to the requirements of AS9003 as an alternative to the more comprehensive aerospace industry specific SAE AS9100 or the quality management system baseline of the ISO 9001:2000 Standard. The requirements of AS9003 are similar to the former ISO 9003:1994 Standard. This standard emphasizes the organization's application of controls for product inspection and testing to defined requirements. Audits are performed by aerospace industry qualified auditors; audit durations are comparable to ISO 9001:2000 Standard audits. ABS QE's program accreditation and auditor approval is supported by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

AS9100

Suppliers to the aerospace industry know that there is no more important quality standard than AS9100, which is based upon ISO 9000. The industry has added a number of requirements to the standards specific to the aerospace sector. Conformance to AS9100 provides international credibility that an organization adheres to the strictest quality standards required for aircraft, aircraft parts, and aircraft repair.

ABS QE offers an unparalleled level of experience and in-depth knowledge of the aerospace quality standard.

AS9110

This standard is specific to aerospace maintenance organizations, and includes ISO 9001:2000 quality management system requirements with additional requirements for a quality management system for aerospace maintenance organizations.

AS9120

This standard is also based on the ISO 9001:2000 and specifies additional requirements for a quality management system for the aerospace industry applicable to stocklist distributors.

ISO/TS 16949

ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc.'s Certification Services for ISO/TS 16949 include:

Pre-Audit (Optional) — The pre-audit is optional and is conducted prior to the readiness review phase. The purpose of the pre-audit is to determine the organization’s readiness for the initial audit.

Readiness Review — The readiness review must be performed within 90 days or less from the date of the certification audit. This service will include an evaluation of the organization's policy manual and procedures. Due to an increased emphasis in planning the certification audit, ABS QE requires that the organization submit internal audit and management review planning and results from the previous 12 months, a list of qualified internal auditors, a list of customer-specific requirements, customer complaint status, and operational performance trends for the previous 12 months.

Certification Assessment — ABS QE conducts the assessment to evaluate the quality management system for conformance to ISO/TS 16949.

Surveillance Visits — The client has the option to select either an annual or semi-annual surveillance audit program. This service confirms that your system meets the requirements of ISO/TS 16949. Certification is valid for three years, subject to satisfactory surveillance audits.
