Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (PED)

The PED was adopted by the European Parliament and the European Council in May 1997. As of May 30 2002, the directive is mandatory throughout the European Union (EU).

The directive regulates pressure equipment widely used in the process, energy production and utility industries, as well as high temperature process industries such as glass, paper and board. Equipment regulated under PED 97/23/EC includes:

Safety devices
Pressure accessories
