ABS Quality Evaluations has been the registrar for the Performance Chemicals' ISO 9001-based Quality Management system since 1995, and it has been a very positive relationship. Three areas of their program have been particularly helpful to our business, namely: 1) audit operations, 2) customer service, and 3) the surveillance audit process.

Over the years, the audit operations group has worked with us to optimize audit duration and audit frequency. This was particularly important when some of our sites went from individual site certificates to becoming part of one overall business certificate. With the cooperation of ABS QE, we were able to cut audit duration and frequency in half. As additional changes have occurred to our business, ABS QE has worked with us so that the audit requirements remain current with the existing business operations.

The customer service personnel are very responsive to our requests. Audit scheduling is hassle free and ABS QE always accommodates any special audit requirements or requests for particular auditors. In those cases where issues do arise, a quick resolution is almost always achieved for a particular problem.

Most importantly, I believe that they audit to the "spirit of the standard" rather than just to the "letter of the standard." In short, they are genuinely interested in making sure that our quality management systems are in place and working effectively for our business. This is just as, if not more, important to them as ensuring that we meet all of the technical requirements of the standard. The net effect of this philosophy is that our employees understand if a nonconformance is identified it is important, and we need to deal with effectively and in a timely manner.

ABS QE has been a consistently responsive certification partner for Siemens Enterprise Networks (SEN) division for the past 10 years. One example that has been very important to us is that they honored our request to maintain continuity by keeping at least one of their people involved in our account, year over year. ANAB (US)

The ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board is the US accreditation body for management systems. ANAB accredits certification bodies for ISO 9001 quality management systems and ISO 14001 environmental management systems, as well as a number of industry-specific requirements, including:

RvA (Netherlands)

The RvA assists in making sure that interested parties can have confidence in all accreditations of conformity provided by and monitored by the RvA. To this end, the RvA maintains a transparent structure that is focused on implementing accreditations in all necessary sectors, both private and public.

The RvA was established in 1995 as the result of a merger between RvC and NKO/STERIN/STERLAB. Certifying organizations that are accredited by the RvA have demonstrated professional excellence and objectivity in the manner in which they carry out their activities with regard to the certification of management systems, products, services, processes and/or professional competence. In December 1973, Brazilian lawmakers created the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) to support Brazilian enterprises, to increase their productivity, and to improve the quality of goods and services produced by Brazilian companies. INMETRO’s major task is to improve the quality of life of the ordinary citizen as well as to seek the competitiveness of the Brazilian economy through metrology and quality. IAOB

The International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB) is an International Automotive Task Force (IATF) oversight office. The IAOB is a Michigan Corporation; members include DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). ABS QE is one of the selected certification bodies recognized by IATF to provide accredited certification for the following standard:
