ISO/TS 16949
ISO/TS 16949:2009 specifies quality system requirements for suppliers in the automotive sector, specifically the supply chain. The international standard may be applied throughout the supply chain. Seen as an opportunity for automotive suppliers to improve quality and reduce costs, ISO/TS 16949 emphasizes defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
The standard applies to organizations that manufacture customer-specified parts for production and service, including vehicle assembly plants, design and development companies, and production and installation organizations.
